Atri glossary

Every term here names something the engine actually computes.

Cascade order (first, second, third)
How many steps removed an effect is from the original event. A first-order effect hits the company named in the news; a second-order effect hits something that company depends on or supplies; a third-order effect is one step further out. Each step is stated separately so you can see where the reasoning becomes thinner.
Impact score
A 0-100 number blending a company's financial health and leverage, the macro picture, and structural signals. It is a deterministic calculation, not a model opinion, and the weights are held in the database rather than hard-coded.
Cost-pressure direction
Whether a development points toward your costs rising or easing. It is deliberately expressed as cost language rather than as a buy, sell or hold call — Atri is an operational early-warning tool, not investment advice.
Abstention
When the evidence does not support a conclusion, Atri says so instead of guessing. An abstained analysis is not a failure — it is the system declining to assert something it cannot back, and it is recorded as its own outcome rather than hidden.
Undercurrent
A slow drift that has not yet become news: several weak signals aligning on the same company, sector or region over time. Detected by tracking each measure against its own recent baseline rather than against a fixed threshold.
Entity resolution
Deciding which real company or person a name in a news story refers to. A hard public identifier — a company number, a ticker, an LEI — wins outright; a weaker name match is either queued for review or left unresolved. A name alone never creates a link.
Evidence strength
How much weight a claim carries, based on where it came from. Filing-grade government records rank above market data, which ranks above general reporting. Weaker signals are capped, shown last, and never raise an alert on their own.
Watchlist dependency
Something your business actually relies on — a supplier, customer, lender, landlord, utility, haulier or regulator, or a named director or officer behind one. Atri stays silent until a cascade reaches one of these.
